First Patent

Patent # 5,727,553 is a Catheter with integral electromagnetic location identification device. Created to solve a problem of locating catheters inside a patient without the constant x-rays or MRIs performed. It also addresses another problem and potential hazard of using a guide wire to retrieve the catheters potential to breakage inside a patient’s body and cannot be located for removal.

Dr. Saad’s device works like a metal detector, the patented catheter has an electromagnetic device and can be easily detected by an electromagnetic location identification to find the exact location of the catheter without the use of x-rays or MRIs. The potential of this invention has not been fully adapted yet, however more doctors will be using this practical and safe solution in the future.

Second Patent

Patent # 5,725,478 is an apparatus and methods for providing suction and/or irrigation in a rigid endoscope while maintaining visual contact with a target area through the endoscope. This device is to solve a problem that is common when performing an endoscopy. Endoscopy provides doctors a visual of the inside of the patient without having to perform surgery. However, body fluids cause zero visibility, so the common medical practice was to remove the endoscope and use an irrigation to suction the fluid causing time and for doctors losing a visual of the prior location and having to restart the process again.

Dr. Saad’s patented invention solves the problem of removing the endoscopy during an endoscopy procedure. The device he invented is an endoscope equipped with an irrigation suction giving a clear visual without having to remove the endoscope. Dr. Saad can personally confirm the usefulness of this device with success. This device is widely used by many doctors today due to the device being inexpensive to make and its practicality.

Dr. Saad Saad’s medical inventions is continuing to help the future world of medicine with his practical and useful devices. The article concluded when Dr. Saad was asked the question of why he decided to invent these devices, Dr. Saad answered that “necessity is the mother of invention.” Learn more: https://www.crunchbase.com/person/saad-saad
